Border Although
this is not a rhododendron garden there is a small theme of blue
and yellow azaleas and rhododendrons here. Overshadowing Hydrangea
villosa is a fine example of Hydrangea xanthoneura wilsonii,
Robin Lane Fox in his article in the Financial Times in June 1989
says 'I was bowled over by a white-flowered Hydrangea xanthoneura
wilson ii, which has reached the size of a small tree. It is a stunning
example of the rarest and least obliging lace-cap member of the
family'. We have planted against an outbuilding a Coopers Burmese
rose, not quite as vigorous as the Kiftsgate rose but nevertheless
competing well with its thuggish neighbour. |
